What microneedles actually do (and why length matters)...
Microneedling has quickly become one of the most talked-about treatments in skincare – but what does it actually do?
Let’s break it down.
How microneedles work
A microneedling tool creates thousands of tiny, controlled micro-channels in the surface of your skin. These micro-injuries are so small you can’t see them – but your skin absolutely responds to them.
The result? Your body kicks into repair mode. It ramps up collagen and elastin production, two proteins responsible for firmness, smoothness and overall skin quality. At the same time, those micro-channels allow your serums and active ingredients to absorb significantly deeper than they would on untreated skin.
In short: microneedling helps your skin rebuild itself while making every product in your routine work harder.
Why needle length matters
Not all microneedles are created equal. The length of the needle determines what it can reach – and what kind of results you can expect.
• 0.25mm: Surface-level. Great for product absorption but won’t stimulate meaningful collagen production.
• 0.5mm: The sweet spot for at-home use. Deep enough to trigger a real collagen response without excessive downtime. This is what Bowie uses.
• 1.0mm+: Clinical depth. Performed by professionals for scar revision and deeper skin concerns.
At 0.5mm, Bowie’s microneedling tool hits the ideal balance: effective enough to stimulate genuine skin renewal, gentle enough to use at home two to three times per week.
What you can expect
With consistent use, microneedling helps improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines, soften acne scars and boost overall radiance. Most people notice a visible difference within four to six weeks.
It’s not magic. It’s your skin doing what it’s designed to do – just with a little help getting there.
